    Leaving Royan, this linking stage follows the Velodyssey cycle route, first requiring you to cross the Gironde Estuary by boat. Make the effort to visit the Phare de Cordouan, the oldest lighthouse in France, set in the midst of the estuary. Once on the south side of the estuary, the cycle route stays close to the Atlantic coast, wending its way down through the seaside resorts of Soulac-sur-Mer, Montalivet-les-Bains and Hourtin-Plage.

A stretch beside the smaller Cousseau Lake enables you to appreciate close up the flora and fauna of this Landes de Gascogne area.
