Arriving in Normandy, the cycle route becomes quite challenging as you take on the highest chalk cliffs in Europe! This portion of the EuroVelo 4 route is truly impressive. Note that all the way along to Le Havre, you won’t ride along special cycle paths but on quiet roads. The landscapes will take your breath away… and your lungs will feel the slopes! Leaving Le Tréport, head for Biville sur Mer, where you encounter your first ‘valleuses’, naturally steep, narrow descents to the sea in these parts.
You take roads shared with motorized traffic towards Dieppe. First you come to Criel-sur-Mer, where you should make a stop. It’s close to this little seaside resort with its colourful beach huts that you can admire the highest chalk cliff in Europe, rising to a height of 106m. Then follow the D16 road and cross the long-drawn-out parish of Petit Caux taking you as far as Dieppe.
