All stages on Le Canal de Nantes à Brest
Châteaulin / Châteauneuf-du-Faou
From Châteaulin, take the towpath into the green corridor of central Brittany: the Canal de Nantes à Brest. Wind your way along the wide Aulne River, punctuated by flower-filled locks. When you reach Pleyben, take heart and climb up to visit the parish enclosure. Continuing on to Ty Men, you'll come across the "Victor", a Nantes barge rescued from the waters and a vestige of Breton inland navigation. Your cycling tour ends in Châteauneuf, at the foot of the chapel on its rocky outcrop.
The cycle route
The towpath of the Canal de Nantes à Brest is relatively flat and not particularly difficult to cycle. If you'd like to reach the higher villages on either side of the canal, there are signposted connecting routes. You're best off with a mountain bike or VTC.
