Cycling in the footsteps of pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela
For centuries, pilgrims from all over the world have been walking Europe's Camino de Compostela, dozens of routes all leading to the same place: Santiago de Compostela, in north-west Spain.
In France, there are now 3 cycling versions of some of these mythical “Compostellan” routes. Suitable for cycling, these signposted routes alternate between small roads and cycle lanes, and will eventually reach Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port.

- La Scandibérique - EuroVelo 3 : France's longest cycling route at 1700 km, which then stretches south-west to Santiago in Spain.
- Saint-Jacques à vélo - Via Tours : 265 km completed from Rambouillet to Tours, following in the footsteps of the original “Via Turonensis”.
- Saint-Jacques à vélo - Via Vézelay : inspired by the “Via Lemovicensis”, the route currently stretches 420 km from Vézelay to Limoges.
Some sections (dotted lines on the map) are still under study or in the planning stage: the development, signposting and safety of these sections are not yet guaranteed.
