We cycled this route in May 2023. The weather was perfect and the route was in great condition. We followed EV4 from St Malo to Plouer sur Rance then headed south on this route. The cycling was easy and we got to Betton (great market on Sundays) for the first night then on to Redon (not much to see here). We returned to Dinan (will definitely return for a longer stay) on this route then headed west on EV4 for a couple of days.

I cycled this route during the 2022 heat wave. I used the alternative route from St Malo to Dinan and it was simply stunning! The route was generally very indicated, although there were a couple of diversions due to work on the tow path, these diversions were reasonably well indicated but I was glad I had a map on my phone to check the route was correct.

I did this section after cycling from St Malo to Nantes. Cycling into Nantes was very easy and exceptionally well signposted, however cycling out of Nantes the signs were a lot fewer and along the river just before Vertou the path was closed for work. The deviation was not well signposted, so make sure you have good maps/ charged smart phone.
After Vertou the signage was very good and it was beautiful cycling through the vineyards
