Château de Dampierre is a French classical-style château set in the hollow of a valley against the Chevreuse valley, in the commune of Dampierre-en-Yvelines.
Built in the last quarter of the 17th century by the Versailles architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart, it has been the residence of kings Louis XIV and Louis XV. But it was above all the property of the Albert de Luynes family from 1663 to 2018.
The château was listed as a historic monument in 1928.
Visit the English-style park:
- The English-style park, now reopened to visitors, is a great place to take a stroll, much to the delight of the general public and lovers of the Château!
- This English-style park designed by Le Nôtre is located behind the island where stands a superb 18th-century pavilion modelled on Louis XV's French Pavilion at Trianon.
- This park, planted with a collection of rhododendrons, camellias and bulbs, where canals bring coolness under the oak trees, is equipped with picnic tables and areas where you can relax in the shade of the hundred-year-old trees.
- Horse-drawn carriage or pony rides
The 300-hectare walled wild park, home to wild boar and fallow deer in a forest of three-hundred-year-old oak trees, will once again be open to visitors. During the season, visitors will be able to discover the fauna and flora of the wild park in horse-drawn carriages pulled by large American mules, and take photos.
- Spend a moment of complicity between you, your child and the animal, during a ride on the back of a Shetland pony guided by you.
- Rides in Rosalies, rowing boats and electric buggies
Vehicles are available for hire in the gardens and park around the château, so you can discover the beauty of the site at your own pace. Boats are also available for hire, so you can enjoy a quiet moment of relaxation in the heart of the gardens, with the castle as a backdrop.
