Unique in France, the Musée de l'Image Populaire is located in the heart of a region that, since the mid-18th century, has constantly enriched Alsace's heritage with hand-painted popular images. The museum presents Alsatian popular imagery and techniques. These hand-painted, channel-cut or glass-painted souvenir images bear witness to the highlights of life in Alsace in the 19th century.

The visit reveals an important and touching facet of the way of life and thinking of yesteryear. With its regular temporary exhibitions and a rich and varied program of activities around the works, the museum is aimed at all publics. It offers children a playful way of discovering the works on display, and provides access for people with reduced mobility.
