Musée Départemental Demard des Arts et Traditions Populaires
This museum brings back to life the activities and objects of bygone days in Haute-Saône. Furniture, souvenirs, small travelling trades, reconstructed workshops. Popular medicine, pharmacy, room evoking links with Mexico. This museum, founded in 1954 by Albert Demard, is housed in the prestigious setting of the château, whose typical Renaissance façade is set in an 18th-century building with a rotunda. The museum first looks at 19th-century peasant life, then at the life of the village with its craftsmen (leather, hemp, iron, pottery and lace) and its community facilities (the grocer's shop, café, school and funfair). More surprising rooms evoke popular medicine and magic, the presence of wolves or beggars, and pedlars. The historic rooms, the drawing rooms and in particular the panoramic drawing room with its wallpaper dating from 1804, take you back to the noble atmosphere of the 18th century.
