Terre d'Estuaire
Just a stone's throw from Pornichet, in the small port of Cordemais, Terre d'Estuaire offers a sensitive, interactive dive into the heart of the Loire estuary. This discovery center is designed for anyone wishing to better understand this unique landscape, shaped by water, currents, people and exchanges.
The visit, which lasts around two hours, takes the form of an immersive, participatory tour. Here, you don't just observe: you manipulate, experiment and travel. The tour invites you to follow animal migrations, to explore the estuary's seabed in search of shipwrecks, to step back in time, or to take to the skies on a 25-metre balloon flight, to take in the whole landscape.
Each area is designed to be accessible to visitors of all ages. Interactive displays help visitors understand the balance of the estuary, its ecological role, its past and present uses, and the transformations it is undergoing. Discovery is gradual, alternating between play, learning and contemplation.
Terre d'Estuaire also offers workshops specially designed for children aged 3 to 10, as well as temporary exhibitions that enrich the tour throughout the year. In this way, the site adapts to families, curious visitors and groups, whether school, leisure or professional.
Open from February to November, the center welcomes the public during school vacations, weekends and public holidays, with an evolving program. Groups are welcome all year round, by reservation only, enabling them to discover the site in a way that's adapted to the needs of different audiences.
This exploration of the estuary is the perfect complement to a stay in Pornichet. It offers a different view of the area, extending the discovery of the coast to the river and its changing landscapes, to better understand the links between the Loire, the ocean and the spaces that connect them.
