Description

A former monastery occupied first by the Capuchin friars and then by the Carmelite sisters until 1998, the Carmel of Abbeville became the property of the City and has been listed as a Historic Monument since 2021. Today, it houses the project office for the future museum and three municipal departments: the Heritage Department, the Public Affairs Department, and the Museum Department.
The gardens are open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The chapel, which houses the sacred art collection and hosts two temporary exhibitions per year, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The cloister, the cells, and the other interior spaces can only be visited as part of a guided tour.
