Pierre et Lumière

Description

A few metres underground, in Saumur, visitors can discover an unusual miniature park: in a former troglodytic quarry, a sculptor has reproduced the monuments of the Loire Valley in stone. Each work is a hymn to beauty and to the work of the builders.

This unique exhibition is the work of Breton sculptor Philippe Cormand. It took him a total of three years to produce all these meticulously detailed reproductions.

The tour takes visitors through some twenty locations sculpted down to the finest detail, sometimes directly into the wall. It's an educational and artistic stroll for all ages, offering a different perspective on the architectural heritage of Anjou and Touraine.
