20,99 km cycling route from Charleville-Mézières to Monthermé

Little by little, the surrounding terrain becomes increasingly demanding, as the meadows give way to dense forests rich in legends. The river Meuse edges towards the Ardennes range, taking the cyclist with it. The highpoint of this tortuous route is in Monthermé where, after a little effort to reach the Roche à Sept Heures viewpoint, the sheer perfection of the loop in the Meuse can be admired in all its glory.

The route

You can leave Charleville via a path running alongside the Meuse from the Mont-Olympe campsite. From the Place Ducale, head down Rue du Moulin. Then, take the footbridge located next to the Rimbaud Museum. Please note: some sections are unsurfaced.

The rest of the route runs alongside the river Meuse and presents no particular difficulty.

Links

From Monthermé, it is possible to join another greenway taking you along the Semoy River. The latter’s secretive valley is a joy for those who appreciate nature.
