The Royal Rope Making Factory - International Maritime Centre
In the heart of the Dockyard of Colbert, discover the Royal Rope-Making Factory which was built in 1666 by order of Louis XIV. For two centuries, the Royal Rope Making made the ropes for the great sailing ships of the Royal Navy.
At the beginning of the tour, an immersive show plunges you into the history of the Royal Rope-Making Factory.
Over the course of the workshops and interactive experiments, (re)discover the primary function of the building, which transformed the material through its different stages : spinning, forming and seating.
Tactile manipulations, image projection, educational kiosks, interactive games, optical theatre. . . A series of experiments awaits you to understand the history of rope-making.
