Château de Lichtenberg

Château 67340 Lichtenberg
Château 67340 Lichtenberg
A site for rediscovering memory, living in the present and welcoming the future. Rich and proud of its eventful history since the 13th century, the restored fortress also has a 21st-century identity. A bold architectural gamble has blended sandstone, wood and copper to adapt it to its new tourist and cultural functions. These contemporary additions remain reversible, however, so that future generations can return to the site in its former state. It is now an essential site for historical discovery, exhibitions, meetings, artistic experimentation and entertainment. Thanks to this dynamic approach, the site is now a Heritage Interpretation Center focusing on the theme of Heritage and Artistic Creation.

The permanent exhibition "Le château de Lichtenberg, un chantier perpétuel" ("Lichtenberg Castle, a perpetual construction site") allows you to discover the architectural evolution of the castle through the centuries, and to explore more than 800 years of history! A range of fun, interactive modules allow visitors of all ages to try their hand at architecture, learn about the different periods of construction and take a behind-the-scenes look at the contemporary restoration of the château.

The château is open to the public during opening hours, and offers a wide range of visitor facilities. The various exhibition areas, discovery trails with manipulative games and explanatory panels reveal all the secrets of the site.
