The canal bridge to Digoin

Description

Les onze arches du pont canal de Digoin permettent au canal latéral à la Loire de franchir le fleuve Loire. Il fut construit en pierres de taille de 1834 à 1838 et fût élargit en 1870. Il est un des premiers grands pont-canaux de France, avec 243 m de long.

This ingenious system, with its 11 arches, enables the canal alongside the Loire to cross the river. It was built of cut stone from 1834 to 1838 and was enlarged in 1870. It is one of the first large canal bridges in France, 243 m long.
