A famed Jacques Brel song talks nostalgically of seeing Vesoul. Cycle beside the Durgeon, a tributary of the Saône, to enjoy a lovely route to see for yourself this little capital town of the French county of Haute-Saône. Following the Trace du Courlis (for 8km) and a path beside Vaivre Lake, it’s easy to reach the historic centre of Vesoul, centred around St George’s Church and its square. Leaving Vesoul, Le Chemin Vert provides a lovely country greenway up to Loulans-Verchamp… After this, the route changes completely in nature! The slopes are very steep, but offer magnificent views before taking you over to the Doubs Valley. At Roulans, it’s time to choose, either to go west or east on the EuroVelo 6.
