While cycling through Nevers, don't miss its monuments!
The Palais Ducal
The Ducal Palace, a former residence, listed as a historical monument since 1840, is nevertheless a place of life: each year it hosts some 200 municipal councils, some 200 meetings, seminars and receptions and fifteen exhibitions.
The Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte Cathedral
The building is made up of an astonishing bric-a-brac of five buildings: there are two choirs, one Romanesque and the other Gothic. The wise hiker will find in this basilica almost all the stages of sacred art in France, between the baptistery of the sixth century and contemporary stained glass windows. The tower overlooking the sacred building completely dominates the city.
Saint-Etienne Church
Built by the monks of Cluny at the end of the 11th century out of regional ochre limestone, it is little altered by the destruction of time. This church is a true testimony of the spirit of the first great Western art.
