Cormatin / Buxy Southern Burgundy by bike : Chalon-sur-Saône / Mâcon
Along an unbroken greenway, making for easy cycling.
There are several further well-signposted cycling circuits to explore around the greenway. Look at the maps available on the spot or pick up the free map, Voies Vertes & Cyclotourisme, published by Bourgogne du Sud Tourisme (the Southern Burgundy Tourist Board).
SNCF train services
There are no train stations that serve the greenway directly but the Southern Burgundy county bus service, Transdev Rapides de Saône et Loire, has some spaces for bikes on line n° 7 Chalon > Cluny > Mâcon – for further details, tel 0800 071 710
Buxy: the fortified village - Musée du Vigneron (wine museum) – wine cellars open to visitors - St-Gengoux-le-National: the medieval village – lovely village houses and the 12th-century church – Cormatin: you can visit the sumptuous château and its gardens April to November, tel 03 85 50 16 55 – theatre festival, July to August - Musée du Poilu (museum dedicated to WW1 soldiers).
