Chris Gittins
Built in 1877 our beautiful 146 year old farmhouse in the village of Paillé, on the route de Compostelle in the beautiful Charente Maritime, which has a temperate climate with relatively mild winters and hot dry summers, which are cooled by a much appreciated gentle sea breeze. The department has plenty of sunshine (the second highest in France after the Cote d'Azur) with few rain showers, perfect weather for a great holiday or weekend break. Just a 2 minute walk from our fabulous village bar, restaurant and food shop, and less than an hour's drive from the beautiful beaches. The house, which has been tastefully refurbished throughout this year, offers a holiday experience with subtle attention to detail such as Egyptian cotton bed linen, comfortable mattresses, feather filled sofas and tasteful furnishings, all our bedrooms have en-suite facilities and there is a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. For your added pleasure we have created several alfresco dining areas in the gardens and full access to the large private swimming pool (May to October) which has plenty of sun loungers and some shade from the peach and nectarine trees. 3 large en-suite double bedrooms, one of which is downstairs, (prices available on request).
Right in the heart of Charente Maritime, one of France's most popular holiday destinations, with plenty of activities available for all age groups. Cognac, Aulnay, St Jean D'Angely and Saintes are all within easy reach. The beaches are less than an hour away.
