The Anise Museum, very small, very cute
For several hundred years, old boxes, old advertisements, and the old swinging basins have been preciously preserved in the attic of the abbey. Catherine Troubat has opened her little museum in two beautiful vaulted rooms of the abbey, where illustrations dating from 1828 are on display. They all tell the beautiful love story of the shepherd and his shepherdess; the same timeless romance that has been perpetuated from year to year, from box to box, with subtle and delicate variations that you will have to identify. The shepherd opens his heart by offering Anis de Flavigny to his shepherdess, that's how the good candy comes to the rescue of the shepherd too shy to express his declaration

You will learn how the sugar and the aniseed have been brought to Flavigny, a small village in Burgundy, since Antiquity. You will learn how the first sugared almonds were made. Already under Henri IV (1591), Flavigny's aniseed was offered to passing guests. The Princes of Condé, the Chevalier d'Eon, the Marquise de Sévigné, Blanche de Castille appreciated them... Did you know that Louis XIV always had a box of anise in his pocket?

The old workshops
Go back in time by pushing open the doors of the old shipping and packaging workshops. In operation since the departure of the monks after the French Revolution until the beginning of 2019, the vaulted rooms have retained all the charm of the 1960s with their original furniture and old machines. To understand the know-how of the employees and how the machines work, videos of the workshop in operation are shown. Long reserved for the factory's personnel, discover now a wing of the interior cloister and the view on the main staircase.

The aroma laboratory
Discover the third ingredient of our candy, whose elaboration is as slow and meticulous as the sugar-coating process: the natural flavours. In close collaboration with the perfumers of Grasse, we compose our natural flavours in order to find our uniqueness. Have fun discovering and recognizing the scents with olfactory exercises, is it orange blossom or tangerine?
