Parc des Eaux Vives
Description
The Parc des Eaux Vives is a must-see destination for lovers of nature, recreation, and thrills. Unique in Alsace, it is the result of an ambitious project to redevelop a former port brownfield site along the Huningue Canal. Opened in 1993, the park transformed a former industrial area into a vast nature and recreation site, while breathing new life into the canal’s banks. At the heart of the park, its artificial river hosts whitewater activities throughout the season, such as kayaking, rafting, canorafting, and hydrospeed. Originally designed to facilitate canoeing and kayaking practice and training at all skill levels, this facility is now recognized as one of the region’s premier sites for the sport.
A true green lung for the city, the park stretches across a carefully landscaped environment, featuring numerous relaxation areas, playgrounds for children, walking trails, and picnic areas. Over the years, the site has also become a prime habitat for biodiversity, home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.
