CENTRE MINIER

60 years after the closure of the region's small mine, discover its incredible history and follow in the footsteps of the underground miners...
Abel, Bautista, Jules, Louis, René, Stanislas, Victor... They all came to work in the Faymoreau coalfield from 1827 to extract coal, the black gold of the time.

Today, in the brand new museum, from the room of the hanged men to the "bottom" of the mine and then to the "day", relive the mining epic of the region's "black faces". Take a stroll through the "corons" of this working-class town, which has been awarded the "Petite Cité de Caractère" label. Marvel at Carmelo Zagari's stained-glass windows in the Miners' Chapel.

Nearby, discover the Epagne headframe at Saint Maurice des Noues.
