After the defeat of Vercingetorix, the oppidum continued to be occupied. A prosperous Gallo-Roman town developed, thanks in particular to the activity of craftsmen specialising in bronze work. It was abandoned in the 5th century. The population can be estimated at a few thousand people. Of this ancient city, there are only remains that have been heavily excavated. They correspond to the foundations and buried structures of the monuments and dwellings built over several centuries.
