Marguerite Yourcenar spent her childhood summers in Flanders, at Mont Noir, sometimes on the Belgian coast. In homage to the first woman elected to the Académie Française, the Villa Marguerite Yourcenar welcomes novelists, poets and essayists in residence throughout the year. The villa is located on the former family estate, the bucolic setting being conducive to literary creation. Meetings with authors, literary evenings and cultural events are organized on a regular basis. The "Hyacinth Trail" crosses the property and features 6 kilometers of discovery markers illustrating the landscapes of Flanders. A visit to the nearby Yourcenar Museum can be completed with a selection of photos, furniture and texts.
For cyclists, the museum has been awarded the "Accueil Vélo" label (Accueil Vélo® is a national label guaranteeing quality reception and services along cycle routes for touring cyclists).
The museum is open to the public from March 1 to November 30, Wednesday to Friday, 2pm to 4:30pm. Sundays from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. Closed on public holidays
