Built in the 18th century by descendants of the Princes of Orange Louis Charles de la Baume Suze family, the château is built on a mound around which lies a 110-hectare estate, including 74 hectares of vines. 33 hectares are in the Côtes-du-Rhône villages appellation, 36 hectares in the Côtes-du-Rhône appellation and 3 hectares in Vin de Pays (IGP). The climate is Mediterranean, with long, hot, sunny summers. The estate's soils are derived from ancient Quaternary and Miocene sedimentary formations. The wide variety of soils on the estate (sand, grey clay, red clay, limestone gravel) enables us to achieve maximum complexity in our blends. The majority of our vines are Syrah and Grenache. They are complemented by minor grape varieties (Cinsault, Marselan, Mourvèdre) that enhance the personality of the wines. While the estate plays the wine tourism card locally, Château La Borie wines are served on the finest tables around the world. The Knapp family has been present on the estate since 2018.
