Office de Tourisme Arbois Poligny Salins Coeur du Jura
Destination Arbois Poligny Salins Coeur du Jura
Nestling at the bottom of the Furieuse valley, the town of Salins les Bains is topped by two forts, Saint André (604m, to the west) and Belin (584m, to the east), and bustles at the foot of Mont Poupet (851m, to the north).
Salins is home to a UNESCO World Heritage-listed saltworks, a testament to its glorious history and prestigious industrial past based around the production of salt, ʺthe white goldʺ; it is home to Therma Salina, a brand-new thermal spa for relaxation and well-being.
But there's more to the area's heritage than just its salt... its buildings, culture and nature are all part of it, as are its public and religious buildings, its natural surroundings ideal for hiking, mountain biking, paragliding... its local know-how (pottery, ceramic painting, exhibitions), and its gastronomic delights (wine, comté cheese, cured meats, honey, salted caramels...).
The Tourist Office will tailor-make an exceptional, all-inclusive menu to suit your every whim!
Guided tours of the town, the dome of the Notre Dame Libératrice chapel and the apothecary.
In July and August: several times a week (see calendar)
And by reservation for groups all year round.
