Roscoff > Carhaix

[ Cycle route La Vélodyssée, the Atlantic cycling route ]
  • 78.6 km

Finistere marks the beginning (or end!) of the route; and, from Roscoff, La Vélodyssée meanders through the narrow lanes of Pays Léonard towards the Bay of Morlaix and its famous viaduct. From Morlaix, a greenway, the former Breton steam train network, winds across the Monts d’Arrée hills to Carhaix – home to Vieilles Charrues, France’s biggest music festival.

The seaside atmosphere slips into the background once the greenway reaches the upper part of town. From here on, this stage of La Vélodyssée moves into a dense forest setting, typical of the Monts d’Arrée. TEST MULTILANGUES

  • Scrignac / Carhaix-Plouguer

    Scrignac / Carhaix-Plouguer [26.9 km]

The greenway is still the common thread of this very nature orientated stage of La Vélodyssée, giving the feeling that you have been plunged into the green depths of Brittany. The impressive natural setting of Huelgoat is well worth a detour, but is usually the preserve of more advanced cyclists.
